The Old Man of the Sea

Bronze, 2002

Dimensions: 16.5" H x 10" W x 9" D
Limited Edition of 47

The Loggerhead Sea Turtle is the official South Carolina state reptile and spends much of its life searching for crustaceans amongst the coral. Sculpted at the Marinelife Turtle Rescue Park of Juno Beach, FL this immature Loggerhead washed ashore during the recent Presidential election debate over voter “chads”. Hence, the turtle was named “Chad”. A full-grown Loggerhead weighs between 300-350 pounds and is distingushed primarily by its large head, massive jaw used for crushing, and by its lumbering manner. Chad is depicted here with elkhorn and brain coral and the common sea fan.
